I wanna get back to class so bad, get my degree and start working with these guys. Red pandas are awesome!
Especially ours. |

| "I'm breaking free, I'm breaking through!" |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|10:45 am] |
Okay. Argh. I think I feel like I'm back among the living again.
I came home early this morning, got on AIM for a short bit and then to get some food. Ended up watching an episode of Titan Maximum with koh4711, followed by the "Music Meister" episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. (Has anyone else seen that ep? It's like the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, but with Batman characters. And freaking Neil Patrick Harris as the Music Meister. ...just when I think that dude can't get any more awesome, he does. Dog damn.)
Came back to my computer after and...about fell asleep in the chair within five minutes. My fiance came in to check on me and was like, "Dude, go to bed. You can't work like that. Get a few hours of sleep already!" Normally I know where my limits are, but sometimes I really do need him to kick my ass and shove me in the right direction so I don't half kill myself trying to get things done. I was so out of it, I could barely type without making a dozen mistakes every other sentence. That made me frustrated on top of being tired to the point where I wasn't even sure I should be online, anyway. Work just...it absolutely killed me this last week. More than once, I had that awful feeling of just drowning in the stress of it all. And after my cycle delivered me into terrible amounts of pain, I was reassigned to a support task for half the week to keep me from sitting for too long and making it worse. This put me on my feet instead of on my ass, which was fine. But after a few days of this, walking around on non-carpeted floors for eight hour shifts plus overtime, I really started to feel it in my heels.
So after nearly passing out in front of Jarvis, I logged out, took a shower, lay down and was out like a light.
I think I'm ready to get back to the business of making art, now. Got some ideas, feeling somewhat inspired...so time to crank up some music and get it going.
Although one other thing? Crap in hat, I think I'm going to have to start watching Code Geass. As usual, RP can be blamed for this. DAMN YOU LELOUCH-MUN! *SHAKES FIST*
Well, that mun and this... (which may or may not be loaded with spoilers, I have no freaking idea)
I need to find that song in MP3 format. Apparently, it was used in the WWE supported movie The Condemned. The band was signed to a label at one point, but got dropped before they could finish their first full album.
As for the vid itself... LOL HOT MECHA. @_@
ETA: Song located. It's Egypt Central's "Over and Under" for any who are curious. |

Rough week is rough.
I put this song on repeat through part of my last shift and managed to make it through without going nuts.
I'm certainly no stranger to Skillet's music and I'd heard the new singles of "Hero" and "Monster" off their latest album, but hadn't actually listened to the full album itself until just recently thanks to koh4711, who also loves this song.
Got pinged early this morning by Ruka, aka Monday-mun from The Wake. Been a bit of a while since we'd talked. We sat and chattered at each other for a while, which was super awesome. I do ♥ me a Ruka. Other than the two of us, I think Riyaz-mun is the only other player at the game who's familiar with KttK canon, which makes me kinda sad, but... Eh, it means Ruka and I can at least squeal about it to each other. Talked to her a bit about some of my upcoming plans with Ratchet and how old bot would "adopt" Monday as yet another family member in a sparkbeat. Not like Monday is young or anything because oh man, SO NOT, but still. Grandpa bot is just way fond of the dude, like he's fond of Lelouch, who actually just showed up on the medbay door step to teach Ratch how to play chess. I may not be as active with Ratch as I'd like these days, but he's got a lot running in the background. Considering intro Cyber Ninja training a handwaved go. :| Thanks, Jazz! XD
Argh, one more day of work this week. ONE MOAR. Then I've got the weekend to get some convention work done, two days of work next week on Monday and Tuesday, then I'm off until the following Monday. Took two days prior to the convention this time for more prep. Took the day off after Izumicon ends to recover.
Now if only the cramps would go away, maybe I can finish the week in one piece. FFFFFF. |

So, on facebook, I'm friends with Aaron Hotchner. As in, Mr. BAU Team Leader on Criminal Minds Aaron Hotchner.
What, me? Brag?
Anyways, he shared with us a video of the Season 4 bloopers. They are quite funny.
See what I mean? Quite. |

| BABIES |
[Nov. 2nd, 2009|03:53 am] |
So, my first trip to the Zoo with the FZ-35 was pretty uneventful. There was something though, just a little... y'know, interesting.
BABIES.

Little Panda
One of Celeste and Yoda's cubs! |
 |
Little Panda
One of the two cubs. Since they were only out a little while, I still don't know differences in facial markings. I also don't know their names just yet, but hopefully I'll find out next weekend. |

Mother and Child
Celeste leads her little one back inside. |
Now, the photos aren't great because they're still spending a lot of time in their nesting box(they're five months old), so I didn't see them too much, plus I'm still getting a handle on the new equipment. But trust me... there will be more to come. Planning on going out next weekend and setting up at Zoo open, and not doing much else besides watching the new family. |

| It's time to make the donuts? |
[Nov. 1st, 2009|11:32 am] |
So I'm sittin' here working on some art for Izumicon - an image of Vash the Stampede - and I think, "Wow, it's actually been a really long time since I've seen any Trigun." I first started watching it back in like...2000, which is when it first got released here in the US domestically, I think. So I took a break and headed on over to Youtube and watched the series opening. Then figured, "Hell with it" and watched the entire first episode in three parts.
Went to Wikipedia after to read up a little on the series and characters since it's been so damn long and...there's a Trigun anime movie coming out?
This is how far behind I am on anime news, I guess.
So I went back to Youtube to see if the trailer from Anime Expo 2009 has been posted. And it has. Oh shit, ignore the really bad, somewhat Engrishy voice over, but seriously. I want this like burning. Man, the animation looks so slick. Sometime in 2010 is I guess when we can expect this thing to come out.
These people are talking my language, now, since I really don't give a damn about a lot of the newer anime from the past few years. Stuff like this Trigun movie and the latest Slayers series are what make me a happy little fan idiot.
ETA: WIPage! DONUTS FTW.

I love my messy art table. B]
I seem to be having an easier time working larger right now than digitally or on 8.5x11 or 9x12 sheets. The paper in the photo is comic Blueline Pro bristol, so it's 11x17 in size. More room to work and maneuver.
And I'm not entirely sure just yet, but depending on how much art I do get done before the convention, we might raffle this original off. Everyone who buys something at the table will get one raffle ticket per item and we'll draw the winner Sunday afternoon before Izumicon ends. |

visited 15 states (30%) Create your own visited map of The United States
Notes:
*I was born and raised in New York City for nine years, frequently visited too. Presently live in Maryland. *A temporary stop during a road trip to Georgia was in South Carolina, another was in North Carolina. *Minnesota and Michigan I only went to because of stopover flights during trips to San Diego but I was technically IN those states for a temporary amount of time so there. *Washington D.C. isn't in this map but I've been there before on several occasions. *I think it's pretty weird too but for some reason I never went to Connecticut, not even passed over there by flight or car! |

[Nov. 1st, 2009|12:11 am] |
Yes, I'm doing Nanowrimo again this year!
I'm also serving as the Municipal Liaison (ML) for Manhattan, KS for the second time. The first time was as co-ML with the estimable Megan Deppner (EmpyreanEvensong). This time, I'm flying solo as she's moved on to bigger and better things... wish me luck!

So far, much as I hate to say it, reviewing WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 has been anything but pleasant.
The first part isn't the game's fault so much, as it arrived here only yesterday. Rather late, all things considering, but I do appreciate THQ shipping again after the first attempt failed to arrive.
Character creation has been a frustrating affair, mostly because as I tried to maneuver the menu to let me go back and edit more of my character, it wound up erasing the whole thing. Before that, it gave me the option to move layers, at least in theory. I tried to move a nice wrist design I had to appear over the gloves I'd chosen, but it wouldn't let me. Worse still, the hair I had for the character appeared OVER the mask I'd chosen. Basically, I wanted a sort of ninja-esque looking character with a ponytail in the back, but instead, the best I managed was a skintight facemask that was sort of ninja-esque with a full head of hair on top. I then decided to remove the character's hair altogether so that it wouldn't appear so ridiculous.
Colors are a bizarre, bizarre thing. Sometimes they work as they should, but other times, the cursor will be over the yellow part of the color grid, and display purple instead.
All this, among other little quirks and things.
In the process, I have learned that the right bumper on one of our Xbox 360 controllers does not work, so that's just lovely.
So, after losing all that progress that must have taken at least an hour to not even have completed, I was going to just play a regular Road to WrestleMania, but realized I felt too disgruntled at the moment to do so.

| Chicks and Dicks |
[Oct. 30th, 2009|07:10 pm] |
I've been waiting for months for Jack Chick to sink to a new low instead of just phoning in tracts that are clownshit insane or merely contradictory ("Hey kids, now that I've told you all about how hell is a dark screamy pit, watch as I turn it into the universe's hottest slapstick stage!"). I honestly thought Chick had lost it, and I would never again feel sick pangs of disbelief whilst reading his work.
Hallelujah, I have been delivered from doubt! Ladies and Gentlemen, get a load of It's Not Your Fault. Jack Chick wields the Lord's lance (huh huh) and tilts it against child molestation. It's not quite as gross as Chick's last attempt to talk molestation--which involved a little girl named Lisa being raped repeatedly by her father and her neighbour, and God's love fixing up everything in a jiffy without the hassle of dealing with godless, secular psychiatrists or policemen--but it's still pretty rank. Let's get into a circle, class, and discuss this piece of...work.
-If you feel angry towards the people who rape you, it's a sin, and God apparently says, "Stop it or I won't make you feel better."
-Accept Jesus in to your heart and you'll instantly feel better!
-Jesus will also grant you the favour of killing off your rapist(s), apparently.
-BONUS MESSAGE: The UN is bad.
A+++++, Jack Chick. See me after class for a beating. |

| Chocolate Potluck |
[Oct. 29th, 2009|11:07 pm] |
So, I've been told I need to make a post here on Livejournal--because nobody uses facebook or talks to me directly... Okay... I am at a dramatic low right now. Feeling blah.
Obviously, the Chocolate Potluck Party this year is not this weekend. There are other things going on (Zombie walk, Halloween). Because many of our social circle have children who want to participate in Halloween, and because it's closer to my own birthday, The chocolate Potluck party tis year is on Saturday November 14th. Same bat-place, Some bat-time.
19th Annual Chocolate Potluck Party Saturday, November 14th, 2009 My place. Come some time after 6:30pm.
This year's theme is STEAMPUNK. Anything steampunkish is acceptable. If you don't know, don't care or don't have steampunk-acceptable garb, modern formal is always welcome.
There are cats in the house. If you are allergic to cats, to chocolate, or to me, you're probably better off not coming.
Please bring something made with chocolate. This need not be a desert. Weve had Mole Poblano, chicken-wings, meatloaf, casseroles with varying amounts of cocoa in them. Of course, you can bring sweets! Please no store-bought candy. We're looking for quality oand/or craftsmanship. We prefer you to actually make something!
BYOB. We'll provide mix. Smoking's on the front stoop.
There will be cameras... |
